Do you want to look younger and healthier? Skincare is a great way to achieve both. There are several ways to maintain healthy skin, from using natural ingredients to professional treatments.

Skincare has become a huge part of our lives. Whether you go to a spa or visit a local beauty store, you’ll see shelves full of creams, serums, masks, and other products promising to give you flawless skin.

Getting the perfect skin doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time and consistency. Following a simple skincare routine is the best thing to do, whether you want to reduce breakouts or prevent flare-ups.

It may not be realistic to have perfect skin, but it is possible to have the best version of your skin. Here are some dos and don’ts for your skincare routine and tips on how to have flawless skin:

DO: DRINK A LOT OF WATER

Your skin is one of the largest organs which technically covers your entire body. That means if your body is dehydrated, your skin will be dehydrated. It is therefore very essential that you drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to keep your skin hydrated, and doing so will help you maintain a healthy complexion and get rid of unwanted toxins from your body.

DO NOT: TOUCH YOUR FACE

This might seem tough, especially when you have a blemish, but the truth is that the more you touch your face, the more problems will arise. Breakouts mostly happen when we touch your face with unclean hands, so try to keep your hands off your face as much as possible.

DO: REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP AT NIGHT

Going to bed with your makeup on means also going to bed with all the dirty oil and toxins your skin has collected all day long! If you don’t wash away all products, your pores will get clogged, which inevitably leads to skin irritations and breakouts. So take that extra minute to rid your skin of all the harmful bacteria to prevent future problems.

DO NOT: OVER-EXFOLIATE

Exfoliation is a must in the quest of having healthy and glowing skin, as it removes dead cells from your skin’s surface, but the use of rough exfoliators or even exfoliating more than necessary can lead to dry, irritated, and damaged skin. Exfoliating once a week is the best step to keeping your pores clear. Remember, too much of anything is never good.

DO: EAT HEALTHY

The saying “you are what you eat” is very true, as great skincare starts with what food you eat. If you live on junk food and take a lot of caffeine, your perfect skin may be a very far-off dream, and almost impossible to get, this is because, in the long run, all these vices will keep your skin dehydrated and contribute to breakouts and inflammation. So the best thing to do is to treat your body and skin by taking in foods rich in antioxidants and vitamins and you’ll be on your way to achieving a flawless skin.

DO NOT: GO OUT WITHOUT SUNSCREEN

SPF is a necessity when dealing with your skin. Sunburn is the primary cause of aging skin and increases your risk level. Using sunscreen daily will keep your face protected, whether you are planning to go outside or not. If you plan to be in the sun for a long time during the day, reapply your sunscreen at least every 2 hours.

DO: WASH YOUR FACE

This is very self-explanatory, washing your face at least twice a day helps to keep your skin clean and hydrated.

DO NOT: NEGLECT YOUR NECK

When it comes to skincare, the face gets the focus, but you need to remember that your neck and chest are also exposed. Make sure you extend your skincare routine to your neck and chest as the skin there is also susceptible to the same damage your face is.

Make sure you moisturize, exfoliate and wear sunscreen on these parts of your body to keep your skin bright and glowing.

DO: CHANGE YOUR PILLOWCASES

A lot of people don’t know this but your pillowcase stores oils, dirt, and sweat from daily use, so you should change your pillowcases every two to three days. This is so that the work you do on your skin doesn’t get destroyed when you lay your head to rest at night.

DO NOT: FORGET TO LAYER PRODUCTS IN THE RIGHT ORDER

Layering your skincare is the order in which you apply your products, but your routine should vary between daytime and nighttime. Your daytime routine is for protection and your nighttime routine is for repair.

There you go! These are a few tips on how to maintain healthy skin. In conclusion, getting the perfect skin is achievable. All you have to do is begin to follow these tips today and very soon, you will begin to notice the change you always wanted to see. It’s never too late to start!
